Blistering contemporary blues...piercing attack, funky, shivery guitar tones and aggressive, soulful vocals" - Blues Revue
"In a world of blues guitar pretenders, Coco Montoya is the real McCoy. Be prepared to get scorched" - Billboard

Famous for his ten year stint with John Mayall – five of them with Walter trout!! He recently appeared on Walter all star ‘Full Circle’ CD and now promotes his debut CD for Ruf records.
Coco Montoya is a left-handed but plays "upside-down right-handed" guitar. In other words he can play a guitar strung for right-handed playing, with bass strings at the upper edge of the fretboard and treble strings at the lower edge. Either way like Doyle Bramhall 11 he conjures up some of the sweetest tones, tightest shuffles and low down rock/blues on the live scene today. His explosive guitar playing and soul-driven voice have propelled him to the upper reaches of the blues-rock world.
Montoya's career began in the mid-70s with Albert Collins as a drummer before Albert taught him his "icy hot" guitar style. Ten years with Mayall put him in the forefront of the blues world and he’s now in a 7 album solo career and his first UK tour in his own right;
As Living Blues concluded; “Coco is one of the truly gifted blues artists of his generation,"
