EGYPT are Eric Chipulina (Guitar/vocals), Peter Correa (Drums), Alan Fish (Bass/vocals).
Formed in London in 1987 by Groundhogs bass man Alan Fish as
a four-piece hard rock/blues outfit, Egypt recorded their first album and toured
the UK the following year.
The band gigged incessantly, honing their heavy Rock Blues sound and undergoing
several line-up changes until the arrival of ace Gibraltar guitarist Peter joined
in 1991.
A second album Preserving The Dead reflected the hard hitting Rock Blues style,
but Egypt was put on a back burner as the band hooked up with Tony T.S. McPhee
to become The Groundhogs. The Egypt line-up of the Groundhogs proved incredibly
popular for about three years before Tony decided to return to the blues.
In May 2004 the trio reverted back to Egypt and recorded released their third
CD Midnight Sun, the first of three for the international record label Blues
Matters.
If you like your Rock blues on the heavy side with lashing of guitar riffs and
a Groundhogs undertow, you will love Egypt.
