The all star SAS Band (Spike’s All Star band) play the Boom Boom Club on Sunday 11th December 2005.

An all star assemblage featuring some of the finest musicians and singers in the World was originally conceived and ultimately put together by Queen keyboard man Spike Edney, The SAS Band were the band who back in the mid 90’s used to fill both the Shepherds Bush Bottom Line club and The Empire, and appeared on TV as part off the Prince’s Trust

Since those heady days Spike and his band have recorded and toured the world, playing a set list that includes some of Rock’s greatest back catalogues. Now this special show comes to Sutton for a unique one off gig in a club setting with an appropriate all star line-up comprising Spike Edney keyboards (Queen/10cc), Jamie Moses on guitar (Paul Young / Brian May Band), Neil Murray bass (Whitesnake / Black Sabbath), Johnny Marter on drums (Fish / Frankie Miller), Steve Hamilton on Sax (Blur), Andy Bush on Trumpet (Radiohead), Zoe Nicholas on Vocals (The Scorpions), and Susie Webb on Vocals (The Who).

Spike's All Star Band were formed by Spike Edney, - former keyboard player with Queen, to appear at the 1994 Gosport Music festival. The first line-up of SAS Band comprised Cozy Powell on drums (Rainbow/Black Sabbath) - Neil Murray on bass (Whitesnake/Brian May band) - Jamie Moses on guitar (Eric Burdon/Paul Young) and Spike on Keyboards. Featured vocalists included Chris Thompson (Manfred Mann's EarthBand) - Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet) - Kiki Dee, and Paul Young.

Response to the debut of the SAS was overwhelming, and led to a steady flow of concert and television appearances, where the core SAS Band have been joined at various times by a star studded list that has included Roger Taylor (Queen), Fish (Marillion) Roger Chapman (Family), Steve Lukather (Toto), Chaka Khan, Tom Robinson, Leo Sayer, Mica Paris, Dean Friedman, Graham Gouldman (10cc), Mark Shaw (Then Jericho), Brian May and John Deacon (Queen), Paul Rodgers (Free), Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull) and Phil Manzanera (Roxy Music)

The debut SAS album features many of the above, and now comes “The Show” a welcome DVD, and more importantly an intimate live show at The Boom Boom Club. And the guests? Well Spike says this; “Among the artists we are hoping to perform with are good friends such as Chris Thompson, Madeline Bell, “Southern” Paul Young , Graham Gouldman (10cc) and Jeff Scott Soto. We’re also hoping to tempt the original male lead from the Queen musical ‘We Will Rock You’, Mr Tony Vincent, to join the merry throng. You never know with the SAS”.
