Johnny
Warman plays the whole of his re-issued "Walking Into Mirrors" album
at The Boom Boom Club on Friday the 19th of September.
Best known as the hugely popular front man with the all star 4 Bills & A
Ben and The Mods, Johnny Warman also has a musical history as a performer, song
writer and recording artist who has worked with Ringo Star, Starship, Cheap
Trick, Prince, Elaine Page, and Peter Gabriel.
It was with Peter Gabriel in the early 80's that Johnny recorded his critically
acclaimed "Walking Into Mirrors" album.
Two decades on, the album has been re-issued with bonus tracks on Angel Air
records, and Johnny has brought together the nucleus of his current band's to
promote an album that has widely been described as "futuristic David Bowie".
Recorded in New York and London with top session players such as Jerry Marotta
and Larry Fast, Johnny's songs are a mixture of the quirky and commercial to
full on rock.
The album's strongest song "The Screaming Jets" led to Australia's
biggest selling band adopting the name, and as a result, a tour of down under
might be in the offing.
Meanwhile, catch Johnny with his band, including Andy Hamilton on sax (George
Michael/Radio Head) at Sutton. Special guests are the 13-year-old Worcester
Park band the Young Chancers.
