BLUES WITH A SLIGHT TWIST OF MELON JAZZ
Formed in 2004, The Watermelons comprise of a wealth of experienced musicians and are based in the heart of Camden Town.
Richie (vocals, guitar) and Dan (drums) hail from the renowned and respected Richie Rich Band who toured the UK from the mid to late 90’s, appearing at most major Blues venues and Festivals, playing with the greats such as Otis Grand, The Pat Travers Band, The Hamsters, The Hoax and the list goes on. They were recognised and applauded as being one of the UK’s hardest working blues bands from magazines such as the Melody Maker and The Guitarist, which earned them a large dedicated fan base over the years.
Simon (bass) provides The Melons with a vast amount of experience in the ‘engine room’. He has toured with many blues and jazz outfits within the UK over a lengthy period of time. His fretless bass playing is as smooth as it gets and he is an undeniably great asset to the band's make up.
Cam (organ) fires up the keys to produce the distinctive and instantly recognisable sound of the Hammond organ. He has recently moved to the UK from Australia where he was involved in playing the major blues/jazz venues in Melbourne as a saxophonist. He has also produced two albums for Deborah Conway and continues to work as a sound engineer, composer and producer for film, television and theatre.
