It’s not hard to have a great night out when you go see Aynsley Lister - the man is a gift from the gods of blues-rock guitar. He is without a doubt the best young singer/player around and its disgraceful the guy isn’t making millions! From the moment he stepped up to the mike at the Boom Boom Club and started playing, till a cool rendition of ‘Crosstown Traffic’ to finish the show, he was simply immense, blowing away the crowd and giving yet another powerhouse performance. With the band behind him laying down a nice tight rhythm, Aynsley was allowed plenty of freedom to do his thing and wail!
If you love blues-rock, then you will love Aynsley- he’s got it all-
feel, touch and tone. Aside from that, he’s got the stage presence, a
good band, great voice and most importantly- great songs. His music runs from
bluesy shuffles like ‘Soundman’ to the straight down the line crunch
of ‘Everything I need’ and the new tracks like ‘Balls of Steel’
(cool title!). The band ran through a good mix of their old and new stuff, the
sound level was good (play it loud!) and the music sounded great. Make sure
you get out and support the guy, there ain’t enough of this sort of music
out there!
